Willow Warbler or Chiffchaff?

September 27, 2015

Chiffchaff.

Points to note; an indistinct supercilium , a moderately dark eye strip which divides the white eye ring and dark legs. A dark cheek that makes the lower white eye ring stand out.

Willow Warbler.

A very distinct supercilium, legs a pale colour, a pale cheek patch and the primary feathers are longer than the chiffchaff.

Much easier if they sung as the differences are obvious but its Autumn so that's not going to happen!
