Pine Processionary Moth

The nests of the pine processionary moth (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) are often seen hanging from the calabrian pines all over Symi. Beware! The spines of these caterpillars can cause a severe rash and if you are unfortunate enough to come into contact with them go and and see a pharmacist who will give you a cream to help the irritation.
