No keyboard, Little Wildlife

After a week without use of some of my laptop keyboard I've finally taken delivery of a new keyboard and can start posting again.  These things take time when you live on an island!

There is very little to write about during the summer months; the cicadas are very noisy; an odd scops owl "pings" at night and the local sparrows are very noisy, roosting in a tall cypress tree in the evening and chattering incessantly. Most birds (i.e. summer visitors) have brought up their young and will be looking to start migrating back to Africa in the next two weeks or so but a nearby swallow is still siting on a nest on what may well be her third brood. In the evenings I can watch them and the house martins swooping in the ravine below my house looking I hope for mosquitoes and any other insects that come their way.
