Life in an Old Ruin

A valonia oak now covers the area outside this old ruin. As it is growing out of the wall I suspect it is accidental and not deliberately planted for shade.

In the main living area a wave of thistles partially cover the floor. At the other end there are slots in the wall where a mousandra would have bee.

In the tiny courtyard an old orange tree grows in the courtyard, still bearing fruit and giving some shade to the summer sun.
Some plaster still clings to the walls and gives us a glimpse of how brightly decorated the living area may have been. The dragon arum has made its home in the yard. The unpleasant smell that it gives off with its flowers would not have been tolerated here, I guess.A small recess in the courtyard  could have housed a statue or some religious icon.
