Less Cold!

A glassy sea as seen from the old terraces around Profitas Ilias.

But at least the wind has dropped today and the temperature has started to rise again. It reached 10c this afternoon although it was clouding over when we finished our walk.

Still, this icicle was just hanging on. Hereabouts the rocks are very wet and are dripping from the winter rains.

There are signs of spring as here with the dragon plant (Dracunculus vulgaris) and its eye catching shoot.

On the same terrace is this huge and ancient cypress tree neatly tucked against a terrace wall and just adjacent to an old house. I can't help thinking that it may have been planted to protect the house and give it some shade. Possibly between 200 and 300 years ago!

Not much left of this old house but the fireplace and a few cupboard holes still remain. Nearby is deep cisterna and the house is surrounded by dozens of terraces.
